The Order Process
I need a variety of information to begin creating a quote for your cake.
Type of Occasion
Date required (Either collection or delivery)
How many portions required
Size of portions (finger or party)
Once I have all the information I can then send you a quote and we can take it from there.
Pretty Little Cake Boutique is a private, home based cake studio located in Arbroath.
Wedding cake consultations are by appointment only. You will be able to view some display cakes and chat about your cake. I will talk through design, colours, delivery and flavours and you will have a chance to sample some cake. There is a cost for this service. After the consultation I will be able to collate all the information and send you a quote. Any cake ordered from a picture or photo of a cake produced elsewhere can only be reproduced by me as our interpretation of the cake and will not be a replica. Please be aware that copyright also protects some designs and, therefore, cannot be copied.
If you require additional meetings after the initial consultation there will be an additional charge of £20.
Pretty Little Cake Boutique is a small business and I only take on one or two commissions per week, so it is advisable to book early. As soon as you have your event date it’s a good idea to get in touch and check availability. If you love my style and design of my cakes, it's worth reserving the date and we can work out the design details when you’re ready.
I will not treat your order as accepted until your deposit has been received.
If you book a wedding cake or a celebration cake over a year in advance, please allow for an increase of upto 10% to cover the increase of ingredients on the quote.
Deposit and Balances
All wedding cakes require a deposit of £100; this is non-refundable and insures that your date is booked into my diary. This will be redeemed on your full cake order. Final payment should be made four weeks before your event date.
For a celebration cake the deposit is £30 and £10 for the cupcake bouquets. For celebration and cupcakes all final payments should be made seven days before the event date. For wedding cakes, all deposits become due to once you have placed, checked and confirmed the details of your order. I will hold your date no later than one week after booking. After this time, your date is not guaranteed and will still be available to other customers.
A deposit or payment can be made via online banking or in cash by dropping it in to me.
Please note, if full payment of the wedding cake is not received 28 days before the delivery, collection and set-up date, it is assumed that the cake has been cancelled. The cancellation policy, therefore, applies in all cases. If after the 28-day deadline you try to make payment, we reserve the right to refuse your trade in all cases with complete loss of your 50% deposit.
Cake Design Alterations
Your cake is important to me so; please take the time to check the details of your quote/order carefully. It is your responsibility to contact us of any changes required to your original order. I will try and accommodate any changes where possible. I cannot guarantee to do so and reserve the right to increase the price quoted for any extra work required.
Any changes made to your original design are subject to a change in the quoted price. Included are supplies that may no longer be needed but have already been purchased. Please note I will be unable to make any changes within seven days of the delivery/collection date for celebration cakes or within four weeks of the wedding date.
Change of Occasion Date
If, for any reason you need to re-arrange your occasion date, I will try my best to accommodate these changes at no additional charges; provided sufficient notice is given and that I can offer a cake for the re-arranged occasion date. I will do my best to accommodate your order but CANNOT GUARANTEE to be able to do so. If I am already fully booked for your new occasion date and unable to provide the cake, it will not be possible to refund your deposit. Please bear this in mind when ordering, as any monies paid are non-refundable and non-transferable. I highly suggest that you take out wedding insurance to cover all eventualities.
Special Dietary Requirements
At this time, I cannot offer free from cakes.
Please be aware that while your cake may not be made with nuts or a nut product, it will have been prepared in a kitchen where nut products may be used in other cakes and fillings. I cannot guarantee that your cake will be free from all nut traces. All of the cakes, fillings and icings may contain, or come into contact with, soy, wheat, dairy, nuts. It is your responsibility to inform your guests of this allergy information. I shall not be held liable for any allergic reaction resulting from consumption of the cake.
Collection & Delivery
Celebration and cupcakes bouquets are normally collected by the client at a prearranged time. Once collected, the order becomes your responsibility. I cannot be held responsible for any damages that happen once the cake has left the premises. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer to confirm you are happy with your order. I would recommend the cakes travel flat in the footwell of a car on in an empty boot.
For wedding cakes, I would recommend having your cake delivered unless you prefer to collect. The safest way to travel is with the cake tiers boxed individually and set up at the venue. Delivery and setup at the venue is based on mileage and time taken at the venue for setup. I will be able to provide you with this cost on your quote. I will deliver and set up your cake on the morning of your wedding at an agreed time. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have provided correct delivery information and ensure that the venue is open and available at the arranged time. At the venue, if I have to wait to gain entry, you will be billed for the time at a rate of £15 per hour. If no-one is available to receive the cake at the agreed delivery time, your order will be returned to my business and I will contact you to arrange an alternative delivery time; for which a charge will be payable. My company accepts no responsibility for any loss or consequential loss incurred by the customer as a result.
Once you have taken delivery of your cake it is important to keep it in cool dark place, on a sturdy surface out of the reach of children and animals. Please keep your cake out of direct sunlight. Cakes should not be refrigerated, as it damages the surface of iced cakes. There may be special serving instructions, such as the removal of non-edible items on your cake e.g. dowels, florist wires and ribbons. You will be advised of this on receipt of your cake. Slicing guides are supplied to show the best way to cut and serve your cake.
Heat and humidity can adversely affect your cake. In warmer months, it is advised the cake be kept in an air conditioned area or, at the very least, a cool area. (Refrigeration is not recommended for fondant cakes). I am in no way responsible for any damage that may occur due to weather conditions.
I reserve the right to photograph your cake order, before collection/delivery for my own reference and publicity. The design copyright is the property of my company. The customer does not have any claim on the design. My company reserves the right to use images of any design for promotional purposes following the event.
Cake Stand Hire
I have lots of pretty cake stands that can be hired to accompany your cake. I do charge to hire the cake stand for five days plus a security deposit which will be refunded, once the stand has been returned. This is the responsibility of the client.
I only hire cake stands to clients who order cakes.
Food safety and Hygiene
I have relevant food hygiene certificates and I am registered with Angus council after an inspection of my kitchen. All my cakes are baked in a home kitchen; therefore, I cannot guarantee that they are free from traces of nuts or other allergens.
