Pretty Little Cake Boutique is fully registered with Angus Council, with relevant food hygiene certificates and product and public liability insurance. It’s run by myself; owner, baker and cake designer, Stacey Taylor.
My aim is to provide clients with fabulous cakes, with a personal and professional service run from my home in Arbroath.
I always loved baking as a child. I loved the process of creating a cake from scratch, but always left a cloud of destruction of dishes and mess, which probably drove my mum mad! I still don’t like doing the dishes much. Two of my favourite bakes were ginger loaf and chocolate cake…still firm favourites but I now have a few more strings to my bow!
Pretty Little Cake Boutique’s journey began shortly after the birth of my son when attending my niece’s birthday. After seeing her birthday cake I had a flash of inspiration. Still a keen baker I put my idea into practice and after several test runs, I found I had a flair for (and an enduring passion for) creating cakes.
My first major challenge was my little boy’s first birthday cake. Someone had been listening to my many hints and given me a wonderful sugarcraft book for Christmas, so I set to work on one of the tutorials to create my first 3D cake. And I was hooked.
With a passion for learning, baking and creating, I attended professional sugar craft training with several different mentors and this put me on the path to starting Pretty Little Cake Boutique.
I am continually learning new techniques to keep up to date with the latest trends. I have a love for making sugar flowers and in my spare time can be found hidden in my cake studio at home, trying out new varieties of flower to add to my repertoire.
When not baking I’m a stay at home mum with my little boy who keeps me extremely busy. He also enjoys baking and trying out my latest creations. Every one of his birthdays lets me try something new, although his designs and ideas are becoming more elaborate the older he gets. Each day is different depending on the commissions I have that week, so being organised is a must and that is where my husband supports me - without him it wouldn’t be possible. A team effort!
